Mid Century Pale Custard Swivel Lounge Chair Circa 1960's
An exceptionally rare 1960s swivel lounge chair, newly upholstered in soft Pale Custard fabric. Its sculptural silhouette, warm wooden frame and distinctive circular metal swivel base make it a standout piece from every angle.
Its distinctive form bears a resemblance to G Plan’s iconic Saddleback seating, although its exact designer and manufacturer remain unknown.
The suspended seat support carries an original “Pirelli — Made in London” marking, offering a small clue to the chair’s British mid-century origins.
We left the wooden base as found. It has a few age-related nicks, most noticeably on the upper left side and beneath the handle, as shown in the photographs. The frame remains in good condition for its age. A beautiful circular metal swivel mechanism adds an unusual detail to the chair’s sculptural design.
We chose a plush yet durable fabric in a soft buttery cream, bringing warmth and comfort to this exceptional 1960s statement chair.
