Journal Entry 1
ORIGIN STORY

Welcome to our design journal—a space where I’ll be sharing the journey & the brand DNA behind Respect Your Elders, from sourcing and restoring vintage pieces to building a lifestyle brand inspired by the designs of the past.
As a designer myself I’ve always seen the world through design. From fashion and art direction to 3d interiors and furniture design, every chapter of my career has been shaped by an obsession with craftsmanship, materiality and the way thoughtful design can influence how we live and feel.
Over time, that passion led me deeper into vintage furniture, mid-century design, and the timeless quality of objects made with real intention. I became fascinated by the way things were once created—with permanence, care, and aesthetic integrity.
What started as restoring beautiful vintage furniture quickly became something bigger. I wanted to build an entire world around that philosophy.
I created this brand is for the aesthetically obsessed—the designers, architects, creatives, and old souls with modern minds who see the world through texture, proportion, materiality.
For those who understand that well-made objects hold energy, history, and design intelligence.
In the next journal entry, I’ll be sharing how this long-held vision—something I imagined for years—is finally taking physical form through our first lifestyle product range.
Journal Entry 2
MID CENTURY STEAM — where formulation meets memory. — ENTRY 02 2026/05/05
This marks our first extension into a mid-century lifestyle offering — a body care range approached with the same discipline as our objects.
Developed over the past seven months, each formulation is produced in small batches. The process is deliberate. Ingredients are selected with care — both botanical and laboratory-made — chosen only where there is a proven record of safety, stability, and efficacy.
Essential oils are used with intent, not excess — for their structure, their function, and their place within the composition. All formulations are cruelty-free.
Nothing is included without purpose.
MID CENTURY STEAM— Body Cleanser will be released at the end of this month.
For those who value small-batch formulation, considered design, and a quieter approach to care.
The name Mid Century Steam
This product was named for texture and tempo — a soft, nourishing cleanser shaped by slower rituals.
Built around notes of steamed matcha and hinoki, it reflects a way of living that values repetition, warmth, and quiet moments of care.
The Design
Sleek Chrome plated tubes inspired by chrome chairs from the 70's Our body care ranges are marked by a chrome emblem — each one referencing the object that informed the formulation.
For the first release, this takes the form of the Bialetti Moka Pot — an ode to ritual, warmth, and a slower, more intentional way of living.
